中国SOS儿童村协会

China SOS Children’s Villages Association is a non-governmental organization established in accordance with the cooperation agreement signed by the Chinese government and the International SOS Children’s Villages Organization in November 1984. It was officially established in May 1985 with the approval of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The same annual report was approved by the International SOS Children’s Village Organization, joined the International SOS Children’s Village Organization and became a full member of the organization. For more than 30 years, China SOS Children’s Villages Association has earnestly implemented the purpose of the international SOS Children’s Villages Organization, actively participated in the activities carried out by the international SOS Children’s Villages, and has done a lot of work to strengthen the scientific management of SOS Children’s Villages. According to the national conditions of our country, a series of rules and regulations and management methods have been formulated to constantly sum up experience and forge ahead, so that the management of SOS children’s villages in our country can be standardized.

Over the past three decades, with the kind care of the Chinese government and the warm help of the international SOS children’s village organization, especially the founder Dr. Herman Gemenar, former chairman Helmut Kuting and current chairman Siddhartha Kaur, the cause of China’s SOS children’s village has made great progress. At present, there are 10 SOS children’s villages in Tianjin, Yantai, Qiqihar, Nanchang, Kaifeng, Chengdu, Putian, Urumqi, Lhasa and Beijing.

In 2015, the Ministry of Civil Affairs awarded the Association the honorary title of National Advanced Social Organization.
